One of the main reasons that I like to get out on the water and in to nature is the fact that it’s relaxing. When your having a bad day at work, or your stuck for hours in a traffic jam smelling the smog and listening to the honking horns of the cars. It can be very stressful and put you in a bad mood. Well the solution is pack up the fishing gear grab the boat tell everyone your going fishing and head out. Nothing for me beats the calmness and serenity of floating around in a kayak or just driving the boat down the lake or river taking in the scenery. Dropping a line in and feeling a nibble on the end of your line and catching that big one you always wanted to.
Fishing is a very healthy way to keep active and it’s a good workout as well. Fishing from a kayak or canoe is a great way to strengthen your upper body with the amount of paddling involved you will burn a lot of calories. It is also a great way to get cardio in as well, with the fresh air and hard paddling your heart will be pumping in no time. My favorite part of the whole thing is working my arms, casting that rod and reeling in those big ones will turn you in to the hulk in no time!(okay maybe not the hulk but it’s a great arm exercise)
3. Family time,
This is my favorite one, grabbing your wife or husband and the kids and head out for a fun filled day on the water. With technologies these days it’s easy to lose track of what’s important. In today’s day and age we get so lost in tweets, Instagram, Facebook or what ever is used, we end up loosing focus of what I think is really important, and that’s spending time with friends and family. So grab your rod and reel and head out on the water and have a great time!
4. Keeps a sharp Mind,
Fishing is a great way to stimulate the brain. As much as it is relaxing fishing can get very complicated from trying to figure out what lure to use when to use it to deciding what fish you want to catch and a whole lot more!. From the moment you decide to pick up the rod and head out to the moment you head back home your brain is in fish mode. Best part of making the brain work is figuring out what to do when you run out of bait. I was fishing for brook trout once and was using good old worms. Little did I know I did not bring enough to last me so I ran out. Instead of walk all the way back to the truck I ended up using a piece of tree bark on the end of my hook and bam! It worked. So don’t be afraid to think out side the box because you never know what will happen!
5. Good food,
And number five on the list but not least is, fish is a health way to eat, and what better way to eat then the fresh fish you just caught. From fancy culinary cooking to good old battered fish frying in hot oil. One of my favorite things to do is a shore lunch the smell of the open fire, fish frying in the hot pan with some beans on the side (I’m making my self hungry just thinking out it!) so grab a pan and some oil catch your self some fish and get to cooking, I know I will be!
